Shipping, Local Delivery and Pick-Up Options

United States:  DDP service with Canada Post and limited Catalog Available

We love our US customers and value your business!  We are cautiously re-opening shipments to the US with Canada Post and DDP service.  Some older items in the catalog don't have customs information entered, as a result, a limited catalog of items are available.  As we update, they will be added to the catalog of available products.

As always, taxes, duties and knowing what you can import is the responsibility of the customer.  With the changes in the the removal of the De Minimus and the global tariffs being applied, the way these charges will be handled as follows:

• The website will automatically assess and bill estimated duties as a separate line item at checkout.  (More detailed information available upon request after the order has been placed)
• There are various service fees in order to estimate and apply the duties to the DDP shipping label which will be included in the price of the item/shipping label.
• If there is any discrepancy in the duties owed, it will be invoiced to the email address used to place the order.  

As a small business, we cannot absorb these costs and need to be sure that our system is correctly calculating the duties required.  If there are any discrepancies, please alert the shop as soon as possible.  At this time due to the increased costs of shipping, we will not be offering discounted shipping (flat or free) to the US. 

As always, if the shop overcharges for shipping, partial refunds will be offered per shop policy.

International Shipments (Not US): Import and Customs Information

All international shipments (with the exception of the US) are sent DDU, duties are the responsibility of the receiver. 

Please note that with the changes to shipping to the United States, many of the carriers have adjusted their service fees for customs clearance. 

Tip:  After receiving shipping notification, we recommend that you check your tracking regularly to see if duties are assessed and payable online as its often less expensive than if they bill you at the door.

All products are clearly identified on customs forms with the place of origin, where the item was manufactured, the HS Code, how customs identifies the item being shipped, weight of the item and the price paid.  

Most of our products are imported and do not fall under CUSMA as the bulk of the fabric that we carry is printed in Pakistan, South Korea, Indonesia, Japan and China.   Many of the notions  and hardware that we stock are produced in China, along with Taiwan.  All new products being entered into the system will have this information listed in the item description, please contact the shop if you have a question on the country of origin of an item that is not listed.

Standard Shipping Policy

Shipping is available and is fulfilled by Canada Post or courier, at our discretion.  Shipping is automatically calculated at checkout by weight using Canada Post as the default shipper.  If you have carrier preferences, please contact the shop.

We said goodbye to Local Delivery in May 2025.  If you are local to Hamilton, meetups can still occur to help you get your fabric - please email the shop prior to ordering to co-ordinate.

We still offer the following shipping options:

Curbside Pick-up (Free)

• Available in Binbrook, ON. 
• Please note that this is a residential address and appointments are necessary for pick-up.   
• You will be e-mailed when your order is ready and to schedule your pick-up appointment.  (Typically within 24 hours)
• If you are looking for a specific pick-up time in advance, feel free to contact us and see if we can accommodate!  

Flat Rate Delivery on Qualifying Orders (includes tracking and insurance)

• Orders of $75 or more will ship for $10 Flat Rate in Canada.
• Temporarily Suspended - Orders of $75 or more will ship for $16 Flat Rate in the US. (we are not accountable for any additional taxes or duties that customs may apply)
• Orders will ship utilizing the most economic option.

Free Delivery on Qualifying Orders (includes tracking and insurance)

• Orders of $150 or more will ship free in Canada.
• Temporarily Suspended - Orders of $200 or more will ship free in the US.  (we are not accountable for any additional taxes or duties that customs may apply)
• Orders will ship utilizing the most economic option.

Shipping Overages (Updated October 2024)

• Shipping overages (on domestic orders) of $2 or more (before taxes) will be automatically refunded when your order is fulfilled. 
• Shipping overages (on international orders) of $5 or more (before taxes, in Canadian dollars) will be refunded upon the parcel's arrival.
• This occurs mainly on smaller orders that we can reduce the standard package size on or if we are able to take advantage of an alternate carrier for less than Canada Post quoted.

Oversized Lettermail & Non-tracked International Shipping Options

We don't offer this service as there have been issues in the past with orders not arriving, tracking offers the best way to keep track of your order in case anything happens. We apologize as we realize that these options offer a more economical rate to receive your order.  

As a small business, we can't afford to replace your order if it goes missing, as such, we will only be offering tracked shipping services that offer liability coverage going forward.  This protects both our customers and our business.  All orders come with default insurance covering the cost of the order up to $100.  If your order total is greater and you want increased insurance, please contact the shop prior to ordering.

Missing Your Package?

Packages are the responsibility of the shipping service once they are picked up and we are unable to make any guarantees regarding service.

All packages come automatically with up to $100 in insurance and if you would like to add more, please contact the shop prior to placing your order.
